Yellow Sapphire- Pukhraj

Yellow Sapphire Stone ('Pokhraj' in Bengali) is a beautiful yellow gemstone variety of the mineral corundum Aluminium Oxide. It is one of the hardest gemstone with a Mohs index of 9.0 and specific gravity ranging from 3.95 to 4.03. It is mined in Ceylon (Sri Lanka), Burma, Thailand, Madagascar, and a few other countries.

In Western Astrology, Yellow Sapphire is the birthstone for Sagittarius (22 Nov - 21 Dec). In Indian Astrology, Pukhraj strengthens Jupiter (Brihaspati) and is hence, the rashi ratna for Sagittarius ('Dhanush') and Pisces ('Meen').

For astrological effects, Ceylonese Yellow Sapphire is considered best and should preferably be worn in Gold or Panchdhatu. An unheated and untreated pukhraj stone with higher clarity, less internal inclusions, and pure colour is considered best for such purpose. Emerald (Panna)


Emerald ('Panna Stone' in Bengali) is a beautiful green shade to colorless gemstone variety of the mineral Beryl. Panna is gemstone with a Moh's index of 7.5-8 and specific gravity average 2.76. It is mined in India , Columbia (Columbian), Zambia (Zambian) and a few other countries.

In Western Astrology, Emerald is the birthstone for Taurus (21 April - 20 May). In Indian Astrology, panna strengthens Mercury ('Para grah') and is hence, the rashi ratna for Gemini ('Mithuna').

For astrological purpose & effects, Colombian Emerald and Zambian Emerald are considered best and should preferably be worn in Gold or Panch Dhatu. An unheated and untreated panna stone with higher clarity, less internal inclusions, and pure colour is considered best for such purpose. Indian or Brazilian Emeralds can be chosen by those on a tight budget, but the quality is often far less than the Colombian and Zambian ones. It is also found in South Africa, Russia, India and Pakistan.

Emerals cures nervousness, heart troubles, blood pressure, ulcer, headaches, amnesia, asthma, insomnia, gasstritis and stammering.

Ruby


Ruby ('Chuni' in Bengali) is a beautiful in red, brownish, purplish and pinkish shades gemstone variety of the mineral corundum (Aluminium Oxide). Its name is derived from the Latin "rubrum" which means "red". Ruby is the hardest gemstone with a Mohs index of 9.0 and specific gravity 4.0. It is mined in India , Burma, Sri Lanka, Cambodia and a few other countries.

Western Astrology, Ruby is the birthstone for Capricorn (15 Jan - 14 Feb). In Indian Astrology, Manak strengthens Sun ('Surya') and is hence, the rashi ratna for Leo ('Simha'). Stone should be wear according to weight in carats or ratti.

For astrological purpose, Old Burmese Ruby stone is considered best and should preferably be worn in Gold or Copper (we recommend a higher quality stone as opposed to spending money on Gold, if budget is tight). For astrology purpose an unheated and untreated manak with less internal inclusions, higher clarity and pure colour is considered best. Indian Rubies can be worn, however, the clarity in these rubies is often far less.

Cats Eye


Cat's eye (Lahsunia in Hindi) stone is a yellow, yellow-green or gray-green variety of chrysoberyl. It is a beautiful stone found also in honey color, yellowish green, black shades. Cat's eye stone is the hardest gemstone with a Mohs index of 8.5 and specific gravity ranging from 3.5-3.8. It is mined in in Brazil, India, China, and Zimbabwe and a few other countries.

As per Indian Astrology, Lahsuniya strengthens Ketu. There are two types of Cats Eye Gemstones that is quartz cats eye and chrysoberyl cats eye.

For astrology purpose chrysoberyl cats eye is considered best and should preferably be worn in Silver. An unheated and untreated Cats Eye Stone with less internal inclusions, higher clarity and pure colour is considered best for astrological purpose.

Blue Sapphire (Neelam)


Blue Sapphire ('Neela' in Bengali) is a beautiful violetish blue to blue gemstone variety of the mineral corundum. Mined in various parts of the world like Sri Lanka (Ceylonese Blue Sapphire), Burma (Myanmar), Thailand, and Madagascar - it is one of the hardest gemstones with a Moh's index of 9.0 and specific gravity ranging from 3.95 to 4.03.

In Western Astrology, Blue Sapphire is the birthstone for Virgo (23 Aug - 23 Sept). In Indian Astrology, neelam stone strengthens Saturn ('Shani') and is hence, the rashi ratna Capricorn, Aquarius ('Makar', 'Kumbh') .

For astrological purpose, Ceylonese Blue Sapphire is considered best and should preferably be worn in Silver or Platinum. Pearl (Moti)

In Western Astrology, Pearl Stone is the birthstone for Cancer (22 June - 22 July). In Indian Astrology, pearl strengthens Moon and is hence, the rashi ratna for Cancer ('Kark').

Hessonite (Gomed)


Hessonite Stone ('Gomed Stone' in Bengali) is a beautiful stone has an orange, brown or orangish brown color of the mineral Nesosilicate. Chiefly Mined in India, Sri Lanka (Ceylonese Hessonite), Africa and in various parts of the world . Gomed Stone is one of the hard gemstone with a Moh's index ranging from 7 to 7.5 and specific gravity is 3.61.

Hessonite Stone strengthens Rahu as per Indian Astrology.

Ceylonese Hessonite Stone is considered best and should preferably be worn in Silver. An unheated and untreated hessonite ('Gomed') stone with pure color, higher clarity and less internal inclusions is considered best for astrological purpose.


Indian or African Hessonite gemstones can be chosen by those on a tight budget, but the quality is often far less than the Ceylonese ones. It has a Specific Gravity of 3.52 and is colorless.Diamond is known as Vajra or the one that is indestructible in sanskrit , Heera in Bengali and Diamond in English. Diamond are available in different shades from white to yellow , blue , pink , green , black and brown. Each of these colors have different applications as per vedic recommendation of gemstones.

Diamonds are mined in South Africa , India , Tanzania, USA, Canada and Russia. High quality Diamonds are rare and only gems that are not synthetic or man-made should be worn for astrological purposes .Opal gemstone is a very potent substitute for diamond and may be worn for astrological purposes.


Diamond gemstone must always be worn if Venus is favorable or benefic in the chart and is either exalted or placed in own signs or great friend sign and occupies a favorable navamsa. When such conditions exist , wearing a Diamond grants immediate favors and is very helpful.
